Qatar World Cup 2022
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is a football tournament in which the men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA and the 22 FIFA World Cup compete against each other. It will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 2022.
It is the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world and the second World Cup to be held entirely in Asia, after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and in Japan.
The tournament will be the last with 32 teams participating as the stadium will be expanded to accommodate 48 teams for the 2026 tournament. Matches in the event will be played in eight stadiums across five cities. France is the defending champions after beating Croatia 4-2 in the 2018 World Cup final.
Due to the extreme heat and humidity of the summer in Qatar, this World Cup tournament is taking place in November and December, which is the first tournament outside of May, June or July to be held during the northern winter.
It is executed within a shortened period of 29 days. The opening match will pit Qatar against Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. The final will take place on December 18, 2022, coinciding with the National Day of the State of Qatar.

Qataris are known for being friendly towards foreigners and having many relationships with people of other nationalities. Many Qatari families will have at least one foreigner as an uncle or cousin so it’s not uncommon to find yourself living next door to someone who speaks another language!
A common expression among Arabs is ‘inshallah’ (God willing) so when you hear this, there’s a good chance that it was said before. People also say tayeba Khaadi wa inshallaheen (the prayer we make depends on whether God wills it or not), referring to if something can be done immediately after asking for forgiveness.
There’s always an event going on somewhere where people gather and enjoy themselves. This includes eating, drinking, dancing, and talking. A few months ago, I heard about how they even hold singing events during Ramadan! It seems like almost any occasion could include some sort of cultural activity.
In fact, one of the main attractions of visiting Qatar is trying all of these things out because you never know what you might end up doing or learning.
How will the World Cup be held in Qatar?
The FIFA Congress voted to award hosting rights of the next World Cup tournament to either Russia or Qatar at their meeting in Zurich back in December 2015. Since then, Qatar has been putting in lots of effort into ensuring that they are fully prepared for when the ball is dropped on them in just over two years’ time.
Since announcing his bid to host the event in 2013, Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa Al-Thani, the Emir of the Qatari Federation, has done an incredible amount to ensure that his country is well prepared to stage one of the most watched sporting events in the world.
He has spent money like crazy to promote his nation as a top football destination, creating an environment where people feel welcome and able to watch the game. He also invested heavily in infrastructure, making sure his country was ready for whatever happened during the competition.
Will there be any new stadiums?
The next major event for Qatar is hosting the FIFA World Cup in just over two years’ time, which they will definitely need to prepare for. However, with every World Cup host since 1930 having at least one newly constructed stadium, this isn’t necessarily a worry.
Qatar has already announced that its final three venues will be ready by November 2018, when the tournament gets underway in June and July. These are expected to include Battersea Power Station, Al Raya Stadium and Lusail City.
But what about all the matches outside these three facilities? There won’t be very many! Only eight out of 32 games take place away from home, so only eight stadiums are needed.
Eight seems like an adequate number until you realize how few new ones there actually are in Qatar. Only one, Lusail City, was confirmed as being used during the recent Asian Games in Indonesia. Two others, Hamad International Airport and Doha Golf Club, have been mentioned but not confirmed.
These three would make up less than half of the total available space – and that doesn’t even guarantee a pitch! Many countries don’t use outdoor arenas after finding it too hot and uncomfortable, and even if they did, most wouldn’t due to water restrictions.
Who are their favourite teams?
Many experts agree that one of the favourites to win this tournament is Spain! They have won two out of the last three tournaments, so they know how to put together an incredible season.
Another strong contender is England. The national team has never missed the FIFA World Cup since it was first played in 1930. And although they’ve never made it past the group stage, many believe that this time will be different for them.
Qatar has a lot of money, which gives them an advantage over other countries. This could help them fund their best possible lineup and compete with top squads like France and Germany.
However, there is still an obstacle: hosting the event. Some people think that giving the cup to someone else might not be the best idea. Others hope that things go very smoothly and that the Qatari government keeps up its reputation as a stable leader.
